About Us

Who are We?
Passion and a sense of community
A dedicated group of coffee growers from Kodagu (Coorg) united with a shared vision: to refine their craft, elevate the quality of their produce, and establish a brand that authentically represents the region’s rich ecological heritage.Driven by passion and a sense of community, these farmers envisioned a brand that would encapsulate the essence of Coorg—its misty hills, diverse flora and fauna, and time-honored coffee-growing traditions.
By coming together, they sought to create a farmer-led enterprise that would empower local growers, strengthen their market presence, and showcase the unique flavors of Coorg’s coffee to the world.

Our Story
A Collective Commitment to Coffee and Biodiversity.
In late 2019, a dedicated group of coffee growers from Kodagu (Coorg) came together with a shared vision—to enhance their craft and create a brand that truly reflects the region’s ecological richness.
Biota Coorg FPCL was officially established in January 2020, led by a team blending farming expertise with corporate knowledge. Today, we work as a collective, supporting over 120 progressive coffee growers and ensuring fair pricing and global recognition for their efforts.
The Meaning Behind "Biota Coorg FPCL"
The name "Biota" signifies the diverse plant and animal life of a particular region, embodying our commitment to preserving Coorg’s lush biodiversity. Our shade-grown coffee farms provide a thriving habitat for native flora and fauna, ensuring ecological balance while enhancing the taste and aroma of our coffee.

Objective

BIOTA Coorg’s medium-term objective aligns with the Government of India’s strategic focus on farmer self-reliance. We are also committed to the vision outlined in the National Policy & Roadmap for Agriculture, which serves as a strategic guide for the coffee industry.
Our goal is to double our members’ incomes. As Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, “Doubling farmers’ income is achievable by purchasing agricultural inputs at wholesale prices and selling agricultural produce at retail.”
